Tree revitalization

When urban trees suffer, we help: with air, water, soil improvement - and biochar as a booster for survival.

Revitalization

Tree revitalization - saving urban trees instead of replacing them

Why existing trees need to be protected and revitalized

Many urban trees are struggling. Having grown for decades, they are now under extreme stress: heat, dry periods, compacted and sealed soils, too little root space or damage caused by construction work.

The result: loss of vitality, pest infestation, drought stress. Often the only option is to cut them down - a huge loss for the climate, cityscape and quality of life.

Yet old trees are particularly valuable: they store more CO₂, provide a habitat, provide shade and are generally more deeply rooted and better established.

That's why we revitalize existing trees instead of replacing them - with targeted measures that improve the root space, activate soil life and increase water availability.

How we revitalize urban trees

Our revitalization method is based on three proven building blocks: site assessment, soil improvement and aftercare.

Site assessment: Before we take action, we check the condition of the tree and its location - e.g. vitality of the crown, compaction, soil type and previous maintenance measures. This is done quickly and practically. Introduction of biochar substrates: Through targeted soil loosening, we introduce structurally stable substrate with activated biochar into the root zone. This improves aeration, stores water, binds nutrients and promotes microbial activity. Use of mycorrhiza: The combination of biochar and mycorrhiza fungi ensures improved nutrient uptake, greater stress tolerance and a strengthened root system - especially in old trees with a reduced proportion of fine roots. Increasing the root space: If possible, we expand the rootable area, e.g. through structurally rich substrate layers or targeted root corridors - away from traffic areas. Aftercare and irrigation: In the months following the measure, we support the trees with water management - e.g. via watering rings, retention systems or supplementary establishment care.

What we do specifically

Revitalization measures for urban trees: We carry out coordinated soil improvement measures - gentle, effective and tailored to the needs of the individual tree. Use of biochar substrates: Our substrates contain activated biochar, structurally stable components and mycorrhiza - peat-free, water-retaining and permanently CO₂-binding. Monitoring and proof of success: We support revitalizations with image comparisons, measurement data or digital vitality assessments - for a documented effect.

Conclusion

Every tree we save counts twice: it continues to provide its ecological benefits - and at the same time saves the effort and CO₂ emissions of a replacement tree.
